About FORMANT.fm
I founded FORMANT.fm as a container for my work with artists and my cultural production practice for adventurous music and experimental forms. It is the structure around the sound: I manage the relationships, teams, networks, structures and processes around the work. Ambitious ideas take shape through form. Artists do their best work when they can focus on creativity and not the demands of the machine. My work is building that form, so artists have the support they need to grow and thrive.
I’ve spent decades working across every layer of music and culture. I started performing and organising DIY concerts as a teenager, then moved to the cultural capital of Montreal and then later, to Berlin.
As a touring musician I recorded, released and performed internationally, and lived the daily realities of being a professional artist first-hand. I programmed and produced hundreds of concerts, festivals and other formats at Berlin’s historic cultural space ACUD Macht Neu. I hosted a show on Berlin Community Radio. I worked with festivals and other institutions, and ran operations for a global music-technology event series with Ableton. I founded the Amplify Berlin mentorship residency, which gave emerging musicians access to knowledge and resources outside institutional norms, and I co-founded an inclusion programme for emerging women and non-binary DJs.
Today I manage artists internationally. I handle the full stack of their day-to-day alongside longer-term goals, balancing operational and strategic rigour with the creative and social dimensions of the work. Beyond core management, I support label management, event planning, tour advancing, tour management and production, logistics and funding applications, always serving an artist’s business goals in balance with their creative impulses.
My practice responds to change: cultural, social, technological, industrial or otherwise. I work across disciplines—a “slasher” and proud of it. That range has prepared me for very different challenges and given me perspectives that complement each other.
I pay particular attention to equity, solidarity, health and inclusion. I hope to have a positive impact on the industry and on the lives of the artists I work with, beyond the typical measures of success.
I also speak, consult and mentor. I’m open to panels, talks, workshops and advisory roles.
